we have moved!

SL is turning one this july! it’s been such a ride: we made many great friends, still can’t believe we actually opened a shop and we’ll probably never be able to shake off the excitement of seeing outfits we picked get so appreciated and loved. to mark SL’s first anniversary, we have a whole slew of exciting things happening from this month on – new labels from new places, more beautiful things to own, and maybe even treat you with some of our silly random sales (!?).

so we’re getting things started by giving our blog a new home. to our gorgeous SL babes (here and overseas), a giant big THANK YOU for reading us everyday and shopping at SL. here’s to another great stylish year ahead. we’ll see you at our new place!

vain & vapid

love these shots taken by ms vain and vapid for her sample sale. which means we can actually get to buy the outfits featured (!). i’m sure the V&V blog would reveal how. Also, totally feeling wottoncool’s rain boots needs: bought a super cute pair just the other day. it’s navy blue with neon pink lining all round, from Gap and at an unbelievable 50% off. all i need now is for mdm weather to keep her promise.

rain or shine

if i had my way, i would have a closetful of bags and umbrellas. of course WL makes sure to not let that (especially the latter) happen. my theory is if you match your shoes, bags, even shades to an outfit, why not a thing that shields half your upper torso? nice umbrellas are way too underrated. this lulu guinness number is quite cute. via vogue uk

everyone did SATC. we caught it yest. v satisfying ending for old (yes it’s literal) fans. yummy mummy karen cheng launched a really fun Doing the Karen Cheng exercise via facebook and the adorable louise has finally launched her own blog Pandora, thanks to the fashion nation girls for pointing out. And ms spinach will probably trade cute big buttons for these giant bows posted on susie’s blog. more post-holiday-get-back-on-track-surfing to do! lovely pics from here.

places of interest

we’re back! went on a week-long packaged holiday to the U.S. (states of california & arizona) while WL held the fort at SL. had fun, saw a tiny fraction of every place we went to, and left knowing i have to go back with WL some day. we saw the golden gate bridge, shopped at union square, san francisco, cruised pass the broody alcatraz (2nd pic), witnessed the grand canyon, played at the fabulously artificial las vegas and loved every inch of that manicured desert and caught (finally!) a cirque du soleil show, the jaw-dropping KA at MGM Grand. best show i’ve seen in my entire life. i swear the magnitude of creativity, visual awe and acrobatic prowess will blow the toughest cynic away. also met and took pictures with disney and universal cartoon characters (spongebob squarepants was so adorable in person!), developed new found love for thematic rides and had so much fun at alice’s mad tea party and Mickey’s toontown (will put up pics soonest). beautiful pictures featured here taken by james.

ready to wear

alongside magazines with great photography, i really enjoy good, visual feasts that magazines like Lucky provides. they’re lighthearted, and you always get great instant ideas to wear clothes you may already have in your wardrobe. the best antidote to trend-overkill is to – after the initial exposure - stay away from runway pictures and (1) stare a little at cool fashion photography, then (2) flip through great ideas from mags like Lucky to put outfits together. these ones are great.
