we interrupt the programme…

I just had to talk about this. Beautiful, beautiful innovations by Toronto based Science and Sons.

Named Phonofone, this limited edition, handmade ceramic sculpture works through passive amplification. Meaning, there is no need for external power or batteries. All you do is plug in your music player. It uses horn acoustics - like the original gramaphone - to amplify sound input.

curvy scarlett

It just occured to me this morning that I should also have used pics of Scarlett Johansson for the curvy body shape. Above, she shows how curvy ladies carry off fitted casual shirts alot better than slimmer counterparts. Leave top 2-3 buttons undone to create a flattering v-neckline.
Some pointers from her: V/wide/heart-shaped necklines, cinched waist and simple, fussless outfits

fix your figure

Last week, an adorable girl came to our shop with her bf. She was tall, a little fleshy, and had good sized boobs and hips. We weren’t too busy at that time, so I spent time with her going through pieces as she tried them on. Through the whole process, she couldn’t stop exclaiming how [...]

when we grow up

soon lee is nearly three weeks old. We’ve met some really great people just in this short period of time and have had many who told us they found our place very comfortable & inspiring. It feels really good to know people like being in the shop. Purchases or not, we really wanted a place that could slow people down & inspire them to appreciate new ideas [...]

arrival hall

I’ve been meaning to put these pictures up. Have seen/talked to several stylish ladies since we started SL and realised I shouldn’t let these opportunities go to waste!

She was looking for a shirt for work. I could hardly imagine her in workwear though. In person, she had such an ease about her- as if she was born to [...]

sunday

Just this sunday, the first ever, very random flea market at haji lane happened. I totally forgot to talk about it here but I definitely will for the next one! It was a great event: The turnout was really good, the crowd couldn’t have been more stylish, and the things on sale (personal 2nd hand stuff) were of approving standards. We don’t know when [...]

priceless

Are you for or against Anna Wintour? From the Aug issue of Paris Vogue. ‘L’Icone shoot by Mario Testino. Some love it, some hate it. I find it quite funny.

you have to catch this

The Singapore Lyric Opera has been trying to reach out to a wider audience by putting up really entertaining and light-hearted operas for the past few years. I caught The Marriage of Figaro last year and fell in love with Italian Opera. It was hilarious and the music very enjoyable! Performed entirely in Italian, most of us wouldn’t understand a [...]
